15th Jan 06 v Chinley
On the 15th January, the a6 lads were looking to kick start the New Year with a few goals at Chinley. We started poorly and 20 minutes into the match it was still 0-0 – balls were going either side of the goal, but not in the net!. We had to turn on our engines if we were to win this match and save ourselves from an embarrassing result. They were the better team in first half. John was quick to use a couple of chances but failed to score any of them. But then 5 minutes before half time Danny scored. At half time it was 1-0. If we played like this next week we would get battered. We went out into the second half with a bit of determination. We wanted goals. That’s exactly what we got. Rob scored 2, Angus scored 3 Jordi scored 2 and denied Rob his hat-trick and Diddy got his name on the score sheet. We were all over them. The match ended and the score was 9-0 to the boys in blue. Jordi won man of the match for a fantastic performance up front. Happy New Year Everyone! Alex Gibbon Win 9-0 Sun 18th Dec v Richmond B
On an extremely frosty December morning Richmond B visited us. There was a chance of it being called off but we were all up for it. So we got ready for the match and we were raring to go. We kicked off and within the first 5 minutes we had scored thanks to a goal from Jordi. Then he scored again to bring the score to 2-0. Nik made a couple of violent shoulder barges and then Angus galloped from one end of the pitch to the other and nicely slotted one home. 3-0. Joe Robinson made some good use of the ball down the right wing and before half time we scored another 2. We had hot drinks to warm us up and Colin and Mike told us to start playing like a team again. We went out into the second half and we wanted to score at least another 10 goals. That is pretty much what we did apart from we only got 7. Angus scored, Rob scored a beautiful left footed swerving shot that flew over the keeper! Jordi scored to get his hat trick. Sooner or later we were all scoring, Josh scored twice and Joe scored an excellent long range, attempted screamer and it flew into the back of the net. Angus got a hat-trick as well as jordi. This was just a simple kick about in the park for the A6 lads. The whistle went and the final score was 12-0 to the boys in blue. Well done to everyone who played. Thanks to Mike and Col for making us have a great start to the Christmas season and to Susan for the Man United Training treat on Saturday, the hot vimto and the presents. Jordan Barr Win 12-0 Sun 11th Dec 05 v Vale Rangers Away
On Sunday 11th December the a6 lads took a trip to Wythenshawe to play Vale rangers. We had got battered by them in the first meeting and we were determined not to let that happen again. Unfortunately we had to play on a so called waterlogged pitch, but when we saw it, it was beautiful. Everyone was well up for it, including their ref. Just before we had kicked off, it had kicked off! We won the toss and the ref didn't know you could swap sides and had a row with Mike. Finally we swapped sides and their keeper was lucky to have sun in his eyes! We kicked off and within a few minutes Alex had already started a fight with one of their players. Nik and Johnny cooled it off and we decided to settle this with football. Within the first 5 minutes Angus scored right in the back of the net. 1-0. we were off to a flying start, then we broke free again and we got another goal from it. Angus was performing. For the 1st 20 minutes everyone was challenging for the loose ball. Then they pulled one back and within a couple minutes of them scoring, Josh made a flying tackle and won the ball but the ref gave him a yellow card! Then Josh made a blatant foul in the area and the ref gave Vale a penalty. They took it and Rish flew like a bullet into the box before he had even touched the ball. The ref gave him a yellow, they scored from that penalty but they had to retake it. This time Alistair pulled off a tremendous save that took us into half time with the lead 2-1 to the boys in blue. We had a chat with Mike and Col and they told us we were playing great and we needed to play even better in the 2nd half as we had the sun in our eyes. We refuelled ourselves and went back onto the pitch. We made a great start to the 2nd half and Angus scored. 3-1. Then Alex battered the ball up the pitch towards John who scored a ‘John’ goal. We were all getting stuck in and Danny bombed down the left wing and put it away. We had a big 4 goal advantage over them and we tried to not let it slip. Unfortunately they scored another. Joe made a bad challenge and got a yellow card shown. We hung on until the final whistle and we had won 5-3. Man of the match went to Alistair for making some super saves, although it was very hard to pick as our supporters were proud of us all. We were all upbeat about the win and we couldn't wait to pan Richmond B next week. We were all very relieved that the match was over. We beat the cheats! 3 yellow cards in one match, now that’s just stupid. Well done to everyone who played. Angus Hotchkies Win 5-3 Sun 4th December v High Lane
On a cold, bitter rainy December morning the A6 lads were visited by High lane. We warmed up thoroughly and we were raring to start. Colin told us we could pan them. We kicked off and we got off to a flying start, literally. Angus went charging through their defence and scored within the first 30 seconds. 1-0. From then on we played magnificently. We were passing the ball around rapidly and we kept on scoring. It wasn’t long before we had a scare at the back but Alistair was there to save us. Joe was getting into everyone. He was having a great game. Danny scored a good goal through some wonderful passing. Everyone was getting stuck in and we were all sliding around on our backsides. We got very muddy, especially Angus. At half time we had put four past them. The score, 4-0 to the boys in blue. We had an encouraging talk at half time as we refuelled our engines with hot vimto. Our tanks were full and we couldn’t wait for the second half to begin. Again, within the first 30 seconds of the second half Angus barged through again and scored. Great, 5-0 but we were hungry for more goals. We kept on playing our football and we kept on scoring. John scored loads and there were 3 for Angus, and their side helped us with an own goal. Before full time we managed to score another 5. We were having a goal fest. So, at full time it was 11-0 to the boys in blue. We absolutely panned them. Everyone played marvellous but man of the match went to John, he scored a magnificent five goals. Well done everybody. Bring on Vale Rangers! Written with a full tank by Niki Robert Johnson Win 11-0 20th Nov against Whaley Bridge
On a frosty November morning the A6 lads played Whaley Bridge at home. Mike and Collin told us that they weren’t much better than us but if we played well we would walk all over them. We kicked off and within the first few minutes we went one down. A couple of minutes later we conceded another. We were playing rubbish. We lifted our heads up and got into gear. A few minutes later Danny pulled one back. After that goal we were determined to equalise and that was exactly what we did - John put one past the keeper. After that goal we didn't concede another until half time. We got the lead and continued to increase it. At half time it was 4-2 to the boys in blue. We had fully regained our confidence and went out into the second half wanting to score loads more. Guess what? That was exactly what we did. Nearly everyone was scoring except the defence. An own goal, 2 screamers from no.7, a goal from jordi and a goal for Angus did it for us although Diddy won them a penalty from a flying tackle at pace on 1 of their players. That was the only goal they scored in the second half. At full time it was 9-3. We like dramatic wins. Niki won man of the match for a great performance at the back. Josh Black 9-3 Sunday 30th October against Norbury Athletic
On Sunday 30th October, we went out to win a match! Despite this, we started really badly, and within 20 minutes, Norbury scored. Well trained to not let our heads go down, we persevered and soon scored, thanks to Danny, taking us into half time 1-1. A few stern words from Mike, and we went out determined to win, yet within a few minutes we were 3-1 down! We were astounded to be losing. Soon Jordan slipped one past the keeper, to bring it to 2-3, and we started getting more chances. Five minutes to go, and the ball came bouncing out to the edge of the box;………Rob unleashed a screamer into the bottom corner to equalise. With the spectators shouting, we knew we HAD to win. In the dying moments of the game, Rish burst through and finished with a winning goal. Final Score 4-3. Thanks to Johnnie for captaining the team to Victory, and thanks To Dave for refereeing. Written with finish by Rob J John Slater 4-3 Win Sunday 23rd October. Cup Match against Poynton
On Sunday 23rd October the big day arrived for the A6 lads. The KO cup match against Poynton. Before kick off Mike and Colin gave us a few words of advice. If we were to win this everyone had to give 110% or more. They kicked off and that was exactly what we did. Everyone was chasing the loose ball. For the 1st 20 minutes we were absolutely solid and Poynton didn't expect to be playing such a good 5th division side. The keeper was pulling off some fantastic saves, the defence was making great tackles, midfield were working hard and the strikers didn't really get much of the ball but they came back and helped us defend. Then Poynton broke the deadlock...thanks to an unfortunate referee decision [he was injured, and couldn’t keep up with play too well] – a blatant offside goal was given. Then they put 3 more past us, at least one of which was offside again. At half time it was an unfair 4-0 to the visitors. We had to regain our confidence. We were playing amazingly well. We refuelled ourselves with orange cordial and went out into the second half with all guns blazing. In the second half we started like we did the first with everyone playing absolutely superb. We tried our best to put one past their keeper but we just couldn't. We were all over Poynton and at one point they were even scared of us. But we just couldn't keep this sterling performance up. We began to get tired and kept trying hard but before the final whistle they put another 3 past us. The final score was 7-0 to poynton. The score didn't really matter, but what did was how we all played. If we play like that every game nobody will be able to beat us. It was very hard to pick man of the match as everyone played well, especially Rish, but it went to Allister for pulling off some marvellous saves. We all went home with our heads held high, knowing we had put up a good fight. As Beckham would say, we done good. Both Mike and Colin were proud of us.
Angus Hotchkies 0-7 Sunday 16th October friendly against Glossop Juniors
After a good start, when we definitely seemed the better team, we ended up losing 6-4. A goal a piece from Jordy and Danny helped us on our way,Rob scored a great free kick, John scored a great goal on his debut, but unfortunately, the fight just was not there, despite Jack trying to rally his side. Angus scored, Danny scored, Angus scored again - we were all over Chinley at half time with a score of 4-0 to us. After an encouraging team talk and some Jaffa Cakes and juice, we went out and dominated the second half. Danny scored, then Robert hit another of those great screamers of his.....again, which was goal of the match...again, Alex then scored a good solid goal, and Angus topped his hat trick with a fourth. On Sunday 2nd October 05 the A6 lads took a trip to Poynton to play Richmond Rovers. We made a great start with Jack scoring within the first couple of minutes. Jordy had some great opportunities and managed to put two in the back of the net. After that Angus cut through their defence like a knife through butter and finished superbly in the bottom corner. At half time it was 4-0 to the boys in blue! Mike and Colin had an encouraging chat with us at half time and after a drink and Jaffa Cakes, we went out determined to score plenty more which was exactly what we did. Soon we were all putting goals in whilst keeping a solid defence. Then came the goal of the match. Rob on the outside of the area unleashed something special! He struck the ball cleanly with his right foot and it fizzed into the back of the net. We kept scoring. Josh put one calmly past the keeper, then Danny scored a beauty down the left hand side chipping the keeper. We carried on playing with great determination and Jack scored his second of the match. Danny went on a windy run down the left and finished to get his second of the match. We kept pushing on and sooner or later we didn’t have a defence and we were all in their half. Nik unleashed a powerbanging screamer off his shin that flew towards the corner flag Then we won a free kick outside the area and Rob curled it past the wall for his second goal, and 10th of the Match! Danny fizzed a ball across the face of goal and Jack coolly put it away to get his hat trick, but the ref didn’t allow it as he thought it was offside. The whistle went and at full time it was 10-0 to us. Another Match report written with superb finish by Nik Mistry Captain: Joe Ellis Result 10-0 Win Sunday 25 th September. Home against Ryecroft Rangers
On a bright sunny morning, we went out hoping to win. We conceded a goal about 10 minutes in, thanks to some poor defensive work. Then came a penalty taken by Rob Johnson, who scored screamer into the bottom corner. Level pegging, we upped the game and had a couple of good shots. Then the opposition scored from a free kick. Heads down, we allowed 2 more in making the half time score of 1-4. A tough team talk from Mike and Colin sent us out fighting. Unfortunately not hard enough. Danny put a penalty away, and later hit a shot that was saved by a bicycle kick off the line. It was a scrappy game. No man of the Match award was given, as we didn't play well enough. Written with flair by Nik Mistry. Result 2-10 Loss Sunday 18 th September Away against High Lane Juniors
